How bank connections work

Wealthra Pty Ltd is a registered CDR Representative of Basiq Pty Ltd, an Accredited Data Recipient (ADRBNK000208) under Australia's Consumer Data Right. You can check this on the ACCC's provider register at cdr.gov.au/find-a-provider.

  • You approve each connection inside your own bank's login, so your banking password is never entered into Wealthra.
  • The connection is data-only. It carries balances and transactions and has no payment capability, so it can't make a payment, set up a direct debit or move money.
  • Consent is per institution, lasts up to 12 months and can be withdrawn at any time. When you revoke access, collection stops and your data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Basiq's platform runs in ISO 27001-certified data centres. Wealthra encrypts data with AES-256 and supports two-factor authentication.
  • Wealthra connects to 100+ Australian financial institutions. The current list is at wealthra.io/supported-banks.

What Wealthra does

  • Transactions: Wealthra's in-house, multi-layer categorisation engine codes every transaction to a category from the moment accounts are connected, with your own rules applied first. That includes transfers between your own accounts, credit card payments, and loan and mortgage repayments split into interest and principal. You can review and change any category.
  • Budgets: weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly budgets, plus project budgets for one-off events such as a renovation or wedding.
  • Bills and buy now pay later: bill tracking with due dates, and instalments across Afterpay, Zip, Klarna, Humm, LatitudePay, PayPal Pay in 4 and CommBank StepPay. See BNPL tracking.
  • Investments: Australian and international shares, ETFs, managed funds, property, super, vehicles and collectibles. Live prices for listed securities, dividends with franking, and contract notes added by email forwarding.
  • Crypto: direct exchange connections to Coinbase, Swyftx, CoinSpot and BTC Markets.
  • Net worth: daily snapshots of assets minus liabilities, with history over time.
  • Forecasting: on Budgeter and above, net worth and cash flow forecasts built from your budgets, bills and scheduled transfers.
  • Goals and scenarios (Planner): savings, debt, mortgage and investment goals with progress tracking, and best, base and worst-case scenarios up to 30 years.
  • Holdings (Planner): record whether each account and asset is held personally or by a family or unit trust, company or SMSF, then switch between personal, single-structure and consolidated views. See Holdings.
  • Documents: upload, photograph or email in receipts, bills, statements and contract notes; Wealthra reads them and links them to the right part of your finances.
  • Household sharing: two people can share chosen accounts and features, with each account set to private, shared or hidden.
  • AI Coach (paid plans): answers questions about your own numbers with general, factual information. It can propose a change to a budget or schedule, and nothing changes until you approve it.
  • Wealthra Rewards (paid plans): an in-house program that rewards ongoing use and referrals with Wealthra Coins. 100 Coins is $1 of credit against a Wealthra subscription; Coins can't be cashed out, traded or transferred. See how Wealthra Rewards works.

What Wealthra doesn't do

  • Give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, or tell you which financial products to choose.
  • Move money. The bank connection is read-only.
  • Hold your money. Wealthra is not a bank.
  • Calculate trust distributions, beneficiary entitlements, SMSF member balances, inter-entity loan balances or your income tax, or prepare tax returns. Holdings organises your finances by holder; it doesn't replace an accountant or SMSF administrator.
  • Exchange Wealthra Coins for cash. They are subscription credit only, recorded on a private ledger that isn't connected to any public blockchain.
