Banks you can connect to Wealthra

Wealthra connects to Australian banks through the Consumer Data Right — the government framework that lets you share your own banking data with services you choose. Most people know it as Open Banking.

What makes this safe

Handing an app access to your bank should make you pause. Here is exactly what the connection can and can't do, and who is watching.

There is no payment connection — at all

This is worth being precise about, because "read-only" undersells it. The Consumer Data Right is a data-sharing framework, not a payments one. There is no mechanism inside the connection for Wealthra to move money, initiate a transfer, set up a direct debit, or make a payment from your account. Not with your permission, not by accident, and not if our systems were ever compromised. The capability simply does not exist in the link between Wealthra and your bank.

It's regulated by law, not by us

The Consumer Data Right is Australian legislation, overseen by the ACCC and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. It isn't a private arrangement between Wealthra and your bank, and it isn't a security promise we've written about ourselves. Every provider in the system appears on a public government register — including us. If a provider breaks the rules, the regulators, not the provider, decide what happens next.

You stay in control of every connection

You approve each institution separately, and you do it inside your own bank's login — Wealthra never sees or stores your banking password. You choose which accounts to share and what data to share. Consent lasts a maximum of 12 months before it has to be renewed, and you can withdraw it at any moment, either from your Wealthra settings or from your bank's own data-sharing dashboard. When you do, the connection stops immediately.

We were assessed before we were allowed to connect

Joining the Consumer Data Right is not a form you fill in. Before Wealthra could be registered as a CDR Representative, our systems, security controls and data-handling practices were put through a detailed certification process against the Consumer Data Right Rules. We operate under a written agreement with Basiq, our CDR Principal, who remains accountable to the regulators for how your data is handled — which means someone with their own accreditation on the line is checking our work, not just us.

Can't find your institution?

Two things to know. New institutions join the Consumer Data Right regularly, so a bank that isn't here today may be here next month. And you never have to wait — you can add any account manually, enter the balance yourself, and it will appear in your net worth, budgets and reports alongside your connected accounts. Manual accounts are unlimited on most plans.

The Consumer Data Right is a legislated framework. Data can only be shared with providers that are accredited by the ACCC, or with their registered representatives, and only with your consent. You authorise the connection inside your own bank's login — you never give your banking password to Wealthra, and Wealthra never sees it.
